The Journey
Our craft began entirely by hand. Every single hole for the nails was measured and drilled manually, and every nail was hammered into the board one by one. From there, the stringing process was moved to a large CNC machine—a slow, meticulous beginning that sparked our drive for continuous improvement.
The Evolution & Optimization
That pursuit of efficiency led us to where we are today. The creation process now bridges having an artistic eye to select and transform images & custom software development with advanced digital manufacturing:
Digital Translation: We start by inputting your chosen photograph into our in-house designed algorithm. This software analyzes the image to determine optimal nail positions, density, and color flow, calculating precise X&Y coordinates and an intricate detailed string routing plan.
Automated Precision: These coordinates & line routing are processed through a second custom-built algorithm that generates the CNC G-code. This handles both the automated precision-nailing phase and drives “The Stringer”—our custom build CNC-type machine that weaves the thread seamlessly without colliding with the nails.
Final Assembly: Once the artwork is completed, the portrait is carefully framed, inspected, and prepared for delivery to its new home.
